Esraj

Esraj is one of the string instruments found in the eastern and central areas of India.It is considered to be 200 years old.It is used in more styles than dilruba which is very similar to it. Esraj is used as an accompanying instrument in Radindra Sangeet.Esraj can be called as modern version of Dilruba and it was earlier used by Namdharis.It is a combination between saringda and sitar. The base of the instrument resembles to that of saringda while the neck and strings lool like sitar.
