Veena

Veena is an ancient String Instrument being in existence since the Vedic Age. From then it has undergone several innovations and modifications.Current version of Veena is attributed to Raghunath Nayak of Tanjavur in Tamil Nadu.It consists of a large body hollowed out from a block of wood.Its stem is also made of wood and is carved out in the form a dragon.A Mini Veena is carved out in the shape of peacock.There are many different versions of Veena.Some of them are Mahanataka veena, Saraswati veena, Rudra veena, Vichitra veena.From these Saraswati Veena is Considered as the Queen of Veena.
